Bennett strikes for Seagulls

01 March 2011 22:30
Elliott Bennett was on target in the first half as leaders Brighton survived early and late pressure to grind out a 1-0 win at struggling Yeovil. The goal came after 25 minutes when Bennett picked up a passing clearance on the edge of the box to fire home past Glovers goalkeeper Stephen Henderson from 25 yards. In the second half, the Seagulls almost doubled their lead when a shot from Bennett was deflected onto a post. Yeovil pushed hard for an equaliser but substitute Andy Williams failed to connect with a far post header in the 70th minute. The result left the Seagulls four points clear at the top of League and took them another step towards promotion to the Championship.
