Swans fail with Johnson bid

Monday Jun 05 2006 12:55

Wycombe Wanderers have shown their determination to keep Roger Johnson by rejecting a £100,000 offer from Swansea City for their club captain.

The 23-year-old has spent the last seven years at Adams Park after joining the club's youth set-up from Portsmouth.

He is the youngest player to have starred for the Chairboys after making his debut aged just 17 years and eight days and has already made almost 200 appearances for the club.

Johnson's contract with the club is not due to expire until the end of next season and managing director Steve Hayes told Wycombe's official website. "Roger is our captain. He's an extremely committed player and we want to keep him at the club."
