Wycombe Wanderers boss Paul Lambert revealed he is considering his future following Saturday's play-off semi-final defeat to Stockport County.
The Chairboys lost 1-0 in the second leg at Edgeley Park to go down 2-1 on aggregate.
However despite admitting he may resign, the former Celtic midfielder denied claims he could leave the League Two club due to personal reasons.
He said: "It has honestly got nothing to do with my wife living in Scotland.
"It's to do with football and I'll make a decision on those terms.
"The disappointment with the game outweighs anybody's individual thoughts.
"The players gave me everything, which is all I could ask for.
"They've been great and I cannot criticise them or fault them for their effort."
