Taylor rules out Doherty appeal
13 Oct 2008 - 17:26:11
Wycombe Wanderers boss Peter Taylor has decided not to launch an appeal against Tommy Doherty's sending off in the 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town.
The Northern Ireland international will now serve a three-match ban after being handed a straight red card for his challenge on Town's James Hunt.
Taylor told the Chairboys' official website: "When it happened we felt the decision was harsh, but after seeing it again I don't think we can have any real complaints.
"You can appeal these days and end up with a longer ban than when you started, so I don't think it's worth the risk on this occasion.
"Tommy's a wonderful player and it will be a blow, but we have some great players who can step in and do a job for us."
Doherty will miss this month's games against Darlington, Barnet and Accrington Stanley.
