Taylor considers card appeal
12 Oct 2008 - 10:42:41
Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor is considering whether to appeal the red card shown to Tommy Doherty in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Grimsby Town.
The Chairboys maintained their leadership of League Two with the point gained at Blundell Park courtesy of Leon Johnson's late equaliser.
But Taylor was unhappy that Doherty was shown a straight red card in the 86th minute for a foul on Mariners midfielder James Hunt.
"I thought it was a touch harsh and we will be asking the referee to have another look at it," he told the club's official website.
"Grimsby's staff and players have said to me that they agree it was a harsh decision and I don't feel it deserved a red card.
"Sometimes we get carried away when we see players going over the top of the ball.
"I'm sure the referee knows that I'm very strict on discipline, so when my players do something wrong I slaughter them.
"But I thought it was just a mis-timed tackle."
