Chairboys gutted by defeat
25 Apr 2007 - 07:34:37
Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield has revealed the Chairboys are devastated after seeing their play-off hopes ended by last weekend's 3-2 defeat by Darlington.
Wanderers are five points adrift of the final play-off spot with just two games of the season remaining and look set for another season in League Two next term.
"We're devastated. It's been a long season and to lose the game was a real kick in the guts," he told the club's official website.
"We didn't do enough to win the game. Defensively we weren't tight enough and in the end that proved costly. On the whole, from back to front, we know we weren't good enough.
"The end result is the one that matters and we didn't win the game.
"We had to get three points and we didn't so we're bitterly disappointed. The lads are gutted."
