Ainsworth loan deal terminated

Wycombe Wanderers have been forced to cancel Gareth Ainsworth's loan spell at the club after the QPR midfielder tore his calf muscle.

Ainsworth had made an impression at Adams Park since joining in November, but the 36-year-old's injury, sustained during training, will put him out for around six weeks - by which time his loan deal would almost be up.

"I would love to keep him longer term and we'll see what develops when he recovers. I would like to thank him for all his efforts during his stay with the club," manager Gary Waddock told the official club website.

"The impact he had in only a short spell was fantastic and he gave everyone a lift. He played his part and we wish him a speedy recovery."
