Roofe leaves Chairboys reeling

A Kemar Roofe double put a dent in Wycombe's automatic promotion push as Oxford ended the Chairboys' eight-game unbeaten run with a 3-2 win at Adams Park.

West Brom loanee Roofe opened the scoring after 11 minutes before turning provider for Danny Rose.

Top scorer Paul Hayes pulled a goal back shortly after the break but Roofe's second goal on the hour mark handed Michael Appleton's side the win despite Aaron Holloway's late consolation.

An open start saw Oxford go ahead when Roofe tucked in Rose's cross and after 22 minutes Roofe returned the favour, pulling the ball back from the byline for Rose to slide home.

The hosts were back in the contest just after half-time as Hayes turned in Alfie Mawson's header following Nico Yennaris' looped cross.

But the two-goal advantage was restored when Roofe stroked home his second of the afternoon.

Holloway found the net in the 90th minute as he met Fred Onyedinma's cross at the far post but it was too little too late for Wycombe.
