Last-gasp Luton snatch unlikely win against Wycombe

Scott Cuthbert and James Collins struck in the closing seconds to snatch Luton an unlikely 2-1 win at Wycombe.

The visitors had trailed to an Adebayo Akinfenwa goal as the clock ticked towards the 90th minute.

But Cuthbert scored in the final moments before Collins sealed a dramatic comeback in the eighth minute of stoppage time, somehow forcing the ball home.

It was harsh on the hosts, and particularly goalkeeper Scott Brown, who had saved a 52nd-minute Danny Hylton penalty after he was pushed over by Joe Jacobson, and Akinfenwa, whose return to the side re-energised the hosts after two scoreless games without the striker.

Akinfenwa had headed what looked for a long time to be the winner in the 40th minute, rising highest to meet Michael Harriman's cross and find the corner.

And Luton were largely unable to cope with the big man's presence, struggling in particular from set-pieces.

But Wycombe, who were the better side for much of the game, could not survive a late onslaught, as Cuthbert prodded in from six yards and Collins' close-range header then somehow crept in.
