Stalemate at Adams Park

Relegation-threatened Wycombe were held to a goalless draw by play-off chasing Colchester at Adams Park.

After ten minutes, Chairboys' Gary Doherty brought down Ian Henderson just outside the box, but Anthony Wordsworth's poor free-kick was collected by goalkeeper Nikki Bull.

Matt Bloomfield burst forward from midfield on the half-hour mark, but his long-range shot was too close to Colchester keeper Ben Williams, who saved comfortably.

Arsenal loanee Craig Eastmond was lively for the hosts, but none of his three efforts could significantly test Williams.

Striker Steven Gillespie charged down Bull's kick eight minutes into the second half, but his follow-up shot was saved by the recovering shot-stopper.

Wycombe applied some pressure late on and Doherty forced Williams into a save as he met Bloomfield's corner with a powerful header after 75 minutes, but neither side looked like conceding.
