Wanderers to contest 9k fine

Wycombe are to appeal against the size of the £9,000 fine they were handed by the Football Association following their ugly brawl at Macclesfield last month. Defender Dave Winfield was dismissed during the scuffle which saw every outfield Wycombe player involved, while Silkmen duo Ricky Sappleton and Emile Sinclair were also sent off. The club were charged by the FA with a failure to ensure they controlled their players and pleaded guilty at a private hearing where the FA imposed the fine, which is just £1,000 below the maximum for such an incident. A statement on the club's official website read: "The appeal will not relate to the incident or to the breach of FA Rule E20(a) during the match at Moss Rose, but on the size of the fine imposed." Macclesfield were handed an identical fine and are also appealing against the size of the fine imposed on them.
