Waddock lauds road stars

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock hailed his side's best away performance of the season as they won 3-1 at Bury and edged closer to automatic promotion from League Two. Gareth Ainsworth's header and a second-half brace from Ben Strevens cancelled out Ryan Lowe's 10th-minute penalty, and Wycombe are now favourites for the third automatic promotion spot, sitting a point ahead of fourth place Shrewsbury, who were 1-0 winners at Cheltenham. "I thought we played really well," said Waddock. "When you take into account we went a goal down, we didn't panic and got back into the game. "The way and the manner we played second half was a credit to everybody at the club and the players have done extremely well. "Without a doubt it was our best away performance of the season. We've done well on the road and got some really good results but to come here, perform like that and get the result was pleasing." "The biggest thing is that promotion's in our own hands now. That's what we wanted, to go into the last game with destiny in our own hands."
