Waddock beaming as Wycombe secure promotion
Wycombe boss Gary Waddock was overwhelmed after seeing his side clinch promotion with a 3-1 win over Southend.
Ex-Chairboys midfielder Anthony Grant had threatened to spoil the party when he blasted the Shrimpers ahead early on, but goals from Scott Donnelly, Ben Strevens and Scott Rendell sparked wild celebrations as Wanderers finished a point clear of fourth-placed Shrewsbury - a year after they were relegated to the fourth tier.
An emotional Waddock said: "I can't sum up my emotions right now, it's one of them where I'm just enjoying the moment.
"The players have been magnificent this season - the last 10 games to do what they've done has been incredible.
"With the fans right behind them as well, you could see the atmosphere they generated. I'm just pleased for everybody associated with the football club.
"Every member of that squad has played their part and so has every single fan who has attended home and away games - I'm delighted for them."
