Chairboys sink struggling Os

Goals from Ben Strevens, Scott Donnelly and Joel Grant earned Wycombe a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient.

The home side have lost their first three league games but did at least record their first league goal of the season through Dean Cox.

The visitors took the lead after just eight minutes when Gareth Ainsworth delivered a cross from wide on the right that was met by Strevens who netted from inside the six-yard box with a precise header.

Orient were back on level terms after 16 minutes when diminutive midfielder Cox ran onto an Elliott Omozusi cross from the right and volleyed the ball past Nikki Bull from 20 yards.

But within a minute, the Chairboys had regained the lead from the penalty spot after Stuart Beavon had been felled in the box by Orient captain Stephen Dawson and Donnelly stepped forward to steer the ball low to the left of keeper Lee Butcher.

Wycombe extended their lead after 50 minutes to put the game out of the reach when man of the match Grant stole into the box to connect with an Ainsworth cross to flick the ball past Butcher from close range.
