Red Dragons boosted

Wrexham have received several boosts ahead of their FA Cup first-round tie at home to Alfreton.

Leon Clowes is expected to have recovered from the foot injury which forced him off in the first half of last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Macclesfield while fellow defender Stephen Wright returns from suspension.

Johnny Hunt is also back in the frame after completing a three-match ban and is contention for the clash along with striker Brett Ormerod, who is fully fit after a hamstring problem.

Joe Anyinsah will be assessed having undergone tests in hospital this week but Theo Bailey-Jones (broken toe) and Kevin Thornton (ankle) definitely miss out.

Alfreton will have their two key loan players available in a repeat of last year's first-round FA Cup tie.

Just over a year ago the Reds came out on top at the Racecourse Ground in an eventful contest which featured three red cards and six goals, and Nicky Law's men will travel to North Wales hoping for similar success.

Goalkeeper Ross Atkins, borrowed from Derby, and striker Jake Speight, on loan from Mansfield, have both received the green light to feature from their respective parent clubs.

Law will be without Paul Clayton, whose ankle injury could keep him out for another three weeks, while fellow forward Daniel Wilshart is likely to miss out due to lacking match fitness after only returning to training on Tuesday from a hamstring injury.
