Wrexham manager Brian Little accepts his side is still almost certain to be relegated despite the encouraging 1-0 win against Notts County.
The Red Dragons are six points away from League Two safety with three matches remaining and face promotion-chasing Hereford United on Tuesday.
Little said: "We've been searching for that for a few weeks. You feel the different mentality it gives people and it's a shame it took so long.
"We'll just see what happens. We can't get too carried away but it was nice to win. We haven't given up. Yes, we're looking at games in the other division because we have to be as prepared as we possibly can.
"It was nice to see young players come in amongst a couple of experienced lads and get a good result."
