Wrexham midfielder Mark Jones faces at least six weeks on the sidelines after being told he needs to have a knee operation.

The 23-year-old had a scan on the injury earlier this month when it was decided to wait and see how it would settle down.

But a specialist has now decided that surgery is necessary to repair the cartilage after Jones suffered more pain this week.

The Wrexham-born star had to endure a similar operation over the summer after having knee problems towards the end of last season.
