How did they qualify - Togo from Africa's group 1, from nowhere managed to top their group with 23 points and gain their ticket to the FIFA world cup 2006 in Germany. This will be the first time the team will have a shot at the finals since they formed. Stephen Keshi the teams coach originally had a top three finish in his sights but after seeing the competition in this years qualifiers has had second thoughts, this once in a lifetime opportunity will gain the team some great experience and they hope to put their country on the map as a serious football team of the world.
