Switzerland World Cup 2006

Country - Switzerland
Capital City - Bern
Continent - Eurpoe
Manager - Jakob Kuhn

How did they qualify - Part of group 4 Switzerland missed out on instant qualification to France who led by two points, this put the team into the play-offs, they had to face Turkey which most teams would worry about. The match against Turkey, although Switzerland came out on top and qualified for the finals one man felt the brunt of the Turkish team. Stephane Grichting was kicked in the stomach during the game and was taken into hospital to be checked over, luckily for the Swiss team he is out of hospital and fighting fit ready for action in the finals of the world cup 2006 Germany.

Since the team first entred the competition it has been a rollercoaster ride for the team, some years not qualifying at all, other years being knocked out in the first round and only a few years making it as far as the quarter finals. The past two world cups the team have not succeeded in qualifying.

Above you will find a picture of the Switzerland team photo and their squad badge.
