How did they qualify - Serbia and Montenegro made it into the finals of the world cup 2006 after claiming the top spot of their group. Playing against some of the best in the world the team had to fend off Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, San Marino and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Out of 10 games the team managed to win6 of their games, draw 4 and not lose any. A total of 22 points the team managed to tot up giving them a 2 clear point lead over Spain.
The former team known as Yugoslavia had not had much luck in the world cups, 2002 saw the team not qualify, 1994 the team were banned from playing due to Yugoslavian wars, the best the team have done since they first formed was in 1998 when they reached round two of the finals.
