Star Man- Artur Boruc and Maciej Zurawski both of Celtic are key players in the Polish national team. Artur Boruc is the National’s team first choice goalkeeper putting in fantastic displays during their qualifying campaign including a great display against England which led to teams such as Arsenal being interested in Artur. Zurawski is a key goal scorer and has netted 15 times in his short international career as well as creating many goal scoring opportunities. He finished number 5 in the top scoring rankings of the European zone netting 7 times.
How did they qualify - Poland came through a difficult group with ease, the group included; England (eventual group winners by 1 point), Austria, Northern Ireland, Wales & Azerbaijan. Poland finished second in this group 1 point behind England and 9 ahead of third placed Austria. Poland had many fine displays including a 3-1 away win over third place Austria and an emphatic 8-0 home drubbing of Azerbaijan. Poland can now go to Germany full of confidence after a fine qualifying campaign.
