How did they qualify – Top of African Group 2 but had a rough ride getting there after loosing 1-0 on the opening weekend of the qualifiers to Burkina Faso although they then went on to signal their intent by beating South Africa 3-0 in Kumasi, a famous victory for them secured by a goal from captain Stephen Appiah.

This is their first appearance in a World Cup but their lack of consistency and confidence may lead to them stalling when faced against some of the world’s greatest sides. For the team this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and for many of the players this will be their first time in Germany.
