How did they qualify - Due to hosting the biggest tournament in football Germany automatically qualify for the world cup. However if they had of been in the groups I am sure they would have been top of their group as Germany are one of the best teams in the competition.
Every year the team have entered into the world cup they have always made it into the finals, they have been world cup champions 3 times and runners up 4 times since they began to play in the world cup.
Their first time in the world cup was back in 1934 where they took a respectable 3rd place finish, however since then the team have not been consistant and in the next world cup 1938 the team only reached round 1. 1950 saw Germany barred from playing in the world cup due to the war but they were not alone as Japan were also barred from playing.
1954 was the first year Germany won the world cup with the final match ending in a 3-2 defeat for Hungary. The team then took the title in 1974 and 1990. Since then the closest the team have come to winning the world cup was in 1992 when the final game of the tournament resulted in Germany losing 2-0 to Brazil.
The tournament will take place in 12 different destinations around Germany, Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund, Leipzig, Cologne, Frankfurt, Kaiserslautern, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich.
