Wolves v Huddersfield - a massive six-pointer
Wolves face Huddersfield in a massive six-pointer at the bottom of the Npower Championship on Saturday at Molineux.
The two clubs both lie on 48 points in the table. Wolves are 20th while Huddersfield only lie one place below them on goal difference.
Wolves defender Matt Doherty is doubtful with an ankle injury so Kevin Foley should come in.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will miss out due to a broken leg. Bakary Sako, Dave Edwards and Razak Boukari are all also sidelined because of hamstring, foot and calf injuries respectively.
Huddersfield meanwhile will be able to recall Adam Clayton after he served a ban. Anthony Gerrard is doubtful with a calf strain and winger Danny Ward may miss out due to a groin injury.
The two clubs have met competitively 75 times spanning 103 years. Wolves have won 30 of these clashes while Huddersfield have won 31. The last time the two sides met was in October when, at the John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield recorded a 2-1 win. James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford, both then on-loan, scored the goals for Town.
In fact, Huddersfield have won the last five meetings between the two clubs. Wolves haven’t beaten the West Yorkshire team at Molineux since 1988, when the two clubs met in the old Third Division.
Huddersfield have scored just 42 goals in this division, one of the fewest of all the sides. They have only picked up one point out of the last possible nine.
However, Wolves have showed signs of improvement in recent weeks that has seen the club move out of the bottom three. Their defeat to Bolton last week ended a run of three successive league victories. Following this match, Wolves face a huge test against promotion-chasing Hull on Tuesday and then games against Charlton, Burnley and Brighton before the season ends.
