    Wolves encouraged by Milijas

    17 Aug 2009 - 10:45:26

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy believes the encouraging start made by Nenad Milijas bodes well for the rest of the Premier League season.

The newly-promoted Molineux outfit lost 2-0 at home to West Ham United on Saturday, but McCarthy was pleased with the debut of the Serbia midfielder.

Milijas came close to scoring on his first appearance for his new club and was voted man of the match by the home fans.

"I was very pleased with Nenad," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"Like all of us he's finding our feet back in the division and you only have to look at West Ham's squad to see the challenge.

"They've got an England centre forward, potential England goalkeeper, centre-half and Kieron Dyer, who's been a fabulous player in the Premier League.

"Nenad is almost one of our senior players with his experience but he's learning what life in England is all about.

"I was pleased with his performance as I was with all of them.

"I'm really pleased with the way we played but a bit of quality in the first half was the difference."
