Wolves boss Mick McCarthy made Exeter City's George Friend his third defensive signing of transfer deadline day just before midnight on Monday.
The 20-year-old moves to Molineux on a two-year contract with the option of a third year.
McCarthy told the club's official website: "Andrew Cassidy, one of Dave Bowman's scouting network, alerted us to George.
"Dave, Steve Weaver, our development coach and Taff (Ian Evans) have all watched him and when Taff said 'sign him' that was good enough for me.
"He comes straight into the squad and will be fighting for a first-team spot."
Friend made 46 appearances for the Grecians and played a key part in the club's promotion from the Blue Square Premier League via the play-offs last term.
McCarthy has also signed Preston's Matt Hill and Jason Shackell from Norwich City.
