Wolves' new boys on target

New signings Sam Vokes and Chris Iwelumo bagged three goals between them as Wolves beat Kilmarnock 3-0.

For 18-year-old Vokes, his first goal for Wolves came just moments after he picked up a leg injury that he feared would force him to sit out the rest of the tie.

"I got the dead leg a couple of minutes before and I knew the gaffer was going to call me off," Vokes told the club's official website.

The former Bournmouth forward also spoke of the fierce competition amongst Mick McCarthy's four leading strikers.

"I think the gaffer wanted to set out with four strikers to work with and different types which can only be good for the club," said Vokes, who would do well do displace Sylvan Ebanks-Blake - the scorer of 12 goals last season.
