Three points please McCarthy

19 Mar 2008 - 12:19:21

Manager Mick McCarthy was full of praise for his Wolves side after they won 2-1 at home to Scunthorpe United to boost their play-off hopes.

The result moved Wolves within one point of the top six, with Neill Collins grabbing a crucial winner seven minutes from time at Molineux.

McCarthy told the Express & Star: "I'm just pleased with the way we reacted to the early goal and won the game.

"We won't get any plaudits for the way we played, but I get great pleasure from looking at the league table and seeing we've got three more points.

"I have to say I thought the players tried to be courageous in the way they got the ball down and passed it. We didn't resort to lumping it, we tried to pick holes in them.

"Considering some of the games we've played and the results we've had, we are in a healthier position than we could have been.

"One or two might be looking over their shoulder at us."
