Shock win satisfies McCarthy
13 Dec 2009 - 12:30:14
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy claimed Saturday's 1-0 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane was his team's most satisfying result of the season so far.
Kevin Doyle's third-minute strike separated the sides at White Hart Lane and helped move the Molineux club out of the Premier League's relegation zone.
"It has to be our most satisfying result of the season," said McCarthy.
"To win at a side who are potentially top four - and I think they can be - isn't something you're expecting to do, but upsetting the apple-cart is a nice feeling.
"Obviously I'm delighted with the performance but it was never a case of being beyond my wildest dreams that we could win here.
"I didn't look at the fixtures and say Spurs away is one where we were going to get three points but I didn't look at it as one where we'd get slapped either. I always thought we could come away with something.
"The players were excellent. They were organised and communicated well and we were really disciplined in what we did."
