New Wolves deal for Ikeme

Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has agreed a new contract that will keep him at Molineux until the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

Boss Mick McCarthy hopes the 22-year-old, who has made 15 first-team appearances for the club, can challenge Wayne Hennessey for the regular goalkeeper's jersey.

"We've agreed a deal with Carl and everything's fine - it should be signed this week," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"He's done really well so I'm thrilled that he's agreed his contract.

"He's a good goalkeeper. He's given Wayne Hennessey a lot to think about.

"He's certainly brought competition - he didn't just come in on a whim, he stayed in on his ability and only lost his place because he got injured.

"He's one of our bright, young players and he's a very good goalkeeper."
