Goalkeeper Michael Oakes has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract that will keep him at Wolves until the summer of 2007.

Oakes is the second shot-stopper to agree a new deal at Molineux this week and he is looking forward to renewing his rivalry with Matt Murray next term, once the youngster has recovered from his foot injury.

"I'm delighted that the contract is all sorted out and I can look forward to next season," the 31-year-old told the club's official website.

"I have said all along that I wanted to stay and so I am pleased that it's all been completed.

"It's been a good week for the goalkeeping fraternity with Matt Murray having signed as well, so things are looking positive.

"We have a good combination with my experience and Matt being a good young keeper. It should provide some great battles for the number one spot."
