McNamara on the mend

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says that experienced defender Jackie McNamara is not yet ready for a first-team return, despite being back in training.

The 32-year-old former Scotland international has not featured so far this season due to a hip problem, but McCarthy is hopeful that McNamara will be back in contention sooner rather than later.

He told the Express & Star: "There is no chance of Jackie being back for Sunday against Leeds.

"He's been out since the Swansea friendly game and one short session is the first thing he's done.

"He'll be back in full training on Thursday and we'll take it from there.

"I won't be setting Jackie any targets. I never set any timelines for returning from injury, there is no point.

"You're always disappointed if they don't make it and so are they."
