McCarthy won't rush Hunt
01 Jul 2010 - 15:54:56
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is not too disheartened that new signing Stephen Hunt will not have fully recovered from a foot injury until October.
The former Reading player suffered the injury in February when playing for Hull City against McCarthy's side.
Wolves signed Hunt earlier this summer for £3million even though they know he would not be fit enough to start the new campaign.
The Wolves boss said: "Hunt won't be fit until maybe October but there's a good side to that in terms of the two-week (international) breaks in August and September with two Saturdays missed.
"As always, Hunt's got a date he thinks he'll be back, we've got a date we think he'll be back, and there's a disparity.
"I've told him we'll be going with my date, as I'd sooner have him for six months of the season absolutely spot on because he'll be a good player for us."
McCarthy has also signed Jelle Van Damme, Steven Fletcher, Steven Mouyokolo and Adlene Guedioura since the end of last season.
