McCarthy wants more goals

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has urged Rohan Ricketts to hit the goal trail ahead of the visit of Colchester United on Saturday.

McCarthy revealed that he make a similar appeal to Ricketts' midfield partner Seyi Olofinjana before the 2-0 victory over Stoke last month and the Nigerian international duly delivered.

"If we keep a clean sheet the team enjoy that together, but if it's a clean sheet at the other end then it's the strikers that aren't scoring," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"But what about someone bending a free-kick in or getting on the end of a corner?

"This is a conversation I've had with Rohan. He's had as many chances as anybody - carved out by himself by his own good play - yet he hasn't managed one yet.

"There is an expectancy to get goals from all over the pitch. It's not just down to the forwards to score. It's down to everybody."
