    McCarthy praises Doyle efforts

    23 Mar 2010 - 08:34:07

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has praised striker Kevin Doyle for his committed performances since moving to Molineux from Reading at the start of the season.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international has scored six goals in 29 appearances for Wolves, with McCarthy unconcerned by a relatively light goals return.

He commented: "Doyler has been terrific.

"He wants a goal. He might try a shot when there may be a pass, but I wouldn't stop Doyler shooting because he does it with either foot.

"There is a lot being spoken about Doyler and whether he will be here if we stay up or we go down or whatever else it is.

"But let me tell you he is a team player and I bet he doesn't like all the chat about him. I don't imagine he would. He just gets on and does his job.

"He is a Premier League player, but I bet it slightly embarrasses him the amount of time we spend talking about him. He is just a conscientious team player."
