Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has been named as the Championship Manager of the Month for August. McCarthy beat off competition from Alex McLeish of Birmingham City, Bristol City's Gary Johnson and Alan Irvine of Preston North End to land the award. Wolves have taken ten points from a possible 12 form their four league games to date, with the only dropped points coming from a 2-2 draw at Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the season. Since then, McCarthy's side have thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 at Molineux, won 2-0 at Ipswich Town and routed Nottingham Forest 5-1.
