McCarthy cool over Craddock
02 Nov 2009 - 11:04:09
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is in no rush to hand Jody Craddock a new contract despite his impressive start to the Premier League season.
Craddock, 34, grabbed both Wolves' goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Stoke City which salvaged a precious point for McCarthy.
But despite his weekend heroics and form in the top-flight, McCarthy is not planning to sit down with the veteran defender, whose current deal runs out in the summer.
"Jody's time at Wolves could have come to an end. The likelihood of it was quite high at one stage," he explained.
"I can't remember what changed my mind. I called him back and put him in the team.
"He has a one-year deal and there has been no discussion about a new one. It's a bit premature.
"But Jody is far too fit and healthy to be having any swansongs. He's doing himself no harm and playing very well. He goes in where it hurts."
