McCarthy brings in Ward

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has snapped up the Sunderland goalkeeper Darren Ward on loan until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper will provide back-up to Wayne Hennessey and Shane Higgs following injuries to Matt Murray and Carl Ikeme.

McCarthy said: "He's a good character around the place and hugely experienced.

"We're just being on the front foot and doing something before we have any issues, to get some cover and have a really experienced goalkeeper."
