Kightly to be given more time
29 Jul 2009 - 11:49:41
Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he expects Michael Kightly will miss the opening weeks of Wolves' return to the Premier League.
The former Grays Athletic star has not yet fully recovered from hip and foot surgery and will be given more time before returning to first-team action.
"Kights has just been finding it difficult to get back to full tilt," McCarthy told Wolves' official website.
"If he's not at full tilt there's no chance he can play, certainly not coming into the Premier League.
"Sometimes, if he came back last season at 75-80 per cent, he could play and be OK but there's no chance he's going to do that and we really need to get him fully-fit.
"The first game of the season was possibly a bit ambitious so maybe we need to take that goal away and just let him get fit.
"It may be a case of getting fit in his own time and making sure he's back at full tilt."
