Kightly ready to return
22 Jan 2008 - 12:40:23
Wolves winger Michael Kightly is hoping to return to action in the next few weeks, as he makes progress in his recovery from a nagging ankle injury.
The 21-year-old has featured just once in the first team since the end of November, but hopes that his troubles are finally behind him after a recent injection proved beneficial.
He told the club's official website: "I had the injection last Thursday and my ankle now feels better than it has done at any stage since I first strained it.
"When I came back last time I could still feel it, but I thought that was normal given the length of time I'd been out.
"I still need to work on my fitness. After being out for eight-and-a-half weeks it doesn't matter how much work you do in the gym and in the swimming pool, it's not the same."
Meanwhile, Wolves are reported to have fended off interest from Everton and Fulham to tie goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey down to a new contract running until the summer of 2012.
