Kightly confident over fitness

Wolves winger Michael Kightly is still confident of being fit for the start of the club's Premier League season.

The England Under-21 international missed the closing weeks of the last campaign with a broken metatarsal and, despite missing some pre-season friendlies, believes he will be ready for the league curtain raiser against West Ham United on August 15.

Kightly was one of the key players in Wolves' Championship-winning side last season.

"I looked at the calendar the other day and noticed that it's four weeks on Saturday until the season starts," he told the club's official website.

"It's a nice feeling to know I've still got some time - there's no point me rushing back to get fit now.

"I might as well go along steady and get as much fitness in me as I can so by the time of the West Ham game, I'll be fit and raring to go."
