Kightly closing in on a return
30 Aug 2009 - 10:36:15
Talented Wolves winger Michael Kightly is hopeful of getting his season underway straight after the international break, having missed the opening games with a foot injury.
The 23-year-old underwent surgery during the summer, but is delighted that he is finally closing in on a return to action, with Wolves enjoying life back in the Premier League.
He told the club's official website: "I've had a good week in which I've been carrying on working with the physios and have been out training with fitness coach Tony Daley.
"I've also done some double sessions and trained with the reserves. If all goes well then hopefully I'll be ready to train with the first team next week.
"For me it's good that there's now a two-week break, it's come at the right time.
"It gives me the chance to get another good couple of weeks under my belt and then after that we can see what happens.
"It all depends on how training goes, whether I feel good and then it's up to the gaffer whether he thinks I'm looking good enough to be involved.
"It has been frustrating, but at the end of the day you've got to look at the bigger picture.
"The gaffer pulled me just before the start of the season and told me he wanted me fully fit for most of the season and by that he means 100 per cent fit for all the games I play.
"If I want to have any sort of impact in the Premier League I've got to be at 100 per cent every time I step out there."
