Higgs handed Wolves chance

Wolves have signed Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Shane Higgs on a month's loan to cover for injuries to Carl Ikeme and Matt Murray.

Higgs, 31, was recently told that he was free to leave Whaddon Road and will be hoping to impress at Molineux in his bid to find a new club.

He told the Gloucester Citizen: "I'm disappointed that it's come to this, but a fresh start could be good for me.

"It's a shame to leave because this has always been a good place and I'll be sad to go, but things move on and that's what's going to happen.

"Sometimes someone's face doesn't fit and people have to move on. I'm not playing at the moment and I understand that the manager wants to get other players in.

"I've enjoyed my time at Cheltenham and the fact I've been here so long shows that. We've achieved quite a lot and I'm glad to have been part of that."

Higgs has made well over 250 appearances for the Robins, but recently lost his starting place to Scott Brown.
