Halford desperate to impress
01 Aug 2009 - 14:23:01
Recent Wolves signing Greg Halford is keen to make a big impression in the opening weeks of the new Premier League season.
The 24-year-old has moved to Molineux for £2million from Sunderland, having struggled during his time with the Black Cats and spent loan spells with Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United.
His chances of a first-team spot are improved by the continuing absence of Michael Kightly, who is still on the comeback from a foot injury sustained last season.
Halford told the Express & Star: "Kights is going to be out for the start of the season, so it gives me an opportunity and hopefully I'll prove myself.
"I've been brought here as a right midfielder and I see myself playing there more often than not.
"The whole reason I came here was to get as many opportunities to play in the Premier League. I was limited to very few at Reading and Sunderland."
