Elliott reunited with McCarthy

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has returned to his former club to sign Sunderland's Republic of Ireland international Stephen Elliott.

The 23-year-old forward has penned a three-year deal at Molineux and hopes his goals will help to fire the club in to the Premier League.

"Knowing what a big club Wolves is, when I heard they were interested in signing me obviously I was keen," Elliott told the club's official website.

"Having worked with Mick before, I thought this was a great opportunity to come and link up with him again.

"I'm delighted and I just can't wait for the season to start because I really believe we can push for promotion."

Elliott scored 23 times in 88 games for the Black Cats following his transfer from Manchester City three years ago.
