Craddock boost for Wolves
09 Sep 2009 - 16:34:46
Wolves captain Jody Craddock has allayed fears that a hamstring injury could lead to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Craddock, 34, has been a surprise starter for the Molineux outfit following their return to the Premier League this season.
The experienced centre-half has played in all four of their league games so far before picking up a hamstring injury during training last week.
Craddock will definitely miss this weekend's trip to Blackburn Rovers but believes he will be fit for the following Sunday's visit of Fulham.
He told the club's official website: "I picked up the injury in training last week which is obviously very frustrating but these things happen.
"It's just a case of getting back fit as quickly as I can and making sure I'm right to get back into training.
"It's often difficult to set targets but if everything goes to plan I could be training by the middle to end of next week.
"If there is a positive I've already got a decent fitness level and it's not like being out for a month when your match fitness can drop.
"Two weeks shouldn't be too bad especially as I can keep doing other work to keep myself ticking over."
Meanwhile, Craddock has admitted he was surprised to start the new season in manager Mick McCarthy's first team.
"I wasn't expecting to start the season but was obviously delighted to do so," he added.
"I'm 34 but have played in the Premier League again which I see as a big achievement.
"I've already had another nice taste of it and have probably played four more games than I'd have expected at this stage of the season!
"Now I've just got to try and get back from injury and get back in the team."
