Chelsea recall for Mancienne

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has admitted he is unsure whether Michael Mancienne will return to Molineux following his recall by Chelsea.

The 20-year-old defender has returned to Stamford Bridge ahead of the Premier League club's FA Cup tie against Southend on Saturday.

Mancienne made ten appearances for the Championship club after arriving on loan in October, but McCarthy's hopes of extending his stay were hit when Chelsea delayed processing the paperwork following injury and suspension problems to their regular central defenders.

"We always knew that Michael wouldn't be able to play for us in the FA Cup because Chelsea wouldn't want him cup tied," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"We'll have to wait and see what happens now."

Meanwhile, chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed the club's interest in signing Rangers winger Alan Gow following his impressive loan spell at Championship rivals Blackpool.
