Breen wins appeal

Wolves defender Gary Breen has had his red card from last weekend's defeat at Cardiff City rescinded by the FA. The former Coventry City and Sunderland star was dismissed for appearing to elbow City's Steve Thompson after only 23 minutes of the Ninian Park clash. However, after viewing video evidence of the incident and taking into account a statement from Thompson, who claimed Breen's actions were accidental, the Republic of Ireland international will not now be suspended. Wolves' club secretary Richard Skirrow had said of the incident: "Gary Breen was adamant from the time of his dismissal no intent was involved. "He was demonstrating to the assistant referee that he himself had been caught in a challenge with Steve Thompson, who also tried to appeal on Gary's behalf."
