Bhoys striker wanted by McCarthy

Mick McCarthy has enquired about the services of Celtic striker Gary Hooper, it has been reported.

McCarthy has long been an admirer of the 23-year-old and did try to sign him from Scunthorpe before he made the move to Celtic Park.Hooper ended last season as the Bhoys top goalscorer with 23 goals and has already started this season well, scoring three goals in four games.

There has been plenty of interested in Hooper ahead of the transfer window closing, but it would take a good offer for Celtic to be tempted to let go of their leading talisman.Meanwhile, Wolves have revealed that they would need to offload a midfielder before they could look at bring Henri Lansbury to the club from Arsenal.

Chief Executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that the 20-year old is on McCarthy's wanted list."Lansbury has been on our radar for a while now," he said. "But in order for us to take the interest any further it would have involved a space opening up on the roster by a player departing."
