    Battling Wolves please Mick

    31 Jan 2010 - 10:37:02

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy was pleased to see his side come from behind twice to claim a point from a 2-2 draw at relegation rivals Hull City, but thought that his team had done enough to secure all three points.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Stephen Hunt netted for the Tigers but a freak own goal by Hull's Anthony Gardner and a deflected Matt Jarvis effort ensured the spoils were shared.

Wolves almost claimed a rare away victory as Kevin Foley and substitute Geoffrey Bia Mujangi went close late on but McCarthy's side picked up a point that at least keeps them above the relegation zone.

"I thought we could have had three points today," said the Wolves boss after the match. "But we've got one more than when we set off coming up the A38 yesterday.

"Being behind twice does render it a good point but with the way we played and the chances we had we did enough to win it. I thought their first goal was against the run of play.

"Our first was an own goal but we set off well in the second half - we were scrapping and fighting and forced them into a mistake and I think we deserved our second one for sure.

"It was a game which neither of us wanted to lose and the status quo remains the same. It's another point and we've got to keep picking them up and see where we are at the end of the season.

"I thought the penalty decision was the worst decision I have seen in a long time - by Ronald Zubar. There was no question in my mind it was a penalty."
